SUMMER HOLIDAY 2011 - NORTH JUTLAND - DENMARK

Primo July  2011 – Tambohus, Lim Fiord (Limfjorden) North West Jutland

We spent 4 days at Tambohus Inn, which is a lovely country inn situated on the coast. We had asked for a room on the ground floor
with access to the garden as this was best for the dogs and ment we could have the door open and sit outside if we wanted to.
We took our transportable fence with us so we were able to make a small patio area from our room and out into the garden .

The Inn is situated in a remote area, right on the beach in a small inlet.  If you walked just a couple of minutes and crossed a bridge
you found yourself on a tiny island where the dogs could run free,  and the dogs just loved this. They loved playing on the beach and swimming (Dovita) or wading (Bianca) in the sea .  The weather wasn’t particularly brilliant, but that never deters us, and of course
the benefit of that was that we had “our island” all for ourselves.  There was also a large lawn at the back of the hotel where I
trained the dogs every day whilst Bjarne read his book.  The dogs were so well behaved at the hotel, and I was really proud of them,
but then they also had lots of fun swimming and playing on the beach so they were exhausted come dinner time when we left them
for a while to go to the restaurant for dinner.

In Denmark you are not permitted to bring your dogs into restaurants or bars etc., so they were only allowed to walk through the
hotel lobby to our room.  This is so different from when we are on holiday in France, Germany and Italy, where they come with
us all over the place!  Still it isn’t a problem for us as they don’t make a fuss when they are left alone.

Ultimo July  2011 – Lalandia, Billund

The second part of our holiday was spent with our son, daughter-in-law and our two “bonus” grandchildren aged 2 and 5. We rented a holiday
home together at Lalandia (an enormous new Aqua dome in Billund) which is also just next door to Legoland, so this was very much a family holiday.
We were very lucky that our “house” was on the last row of houses overlooking an enormous field, so there was plenty of opportunity to let the
dogs run loose without bothering anyone.  They are very good at coming to heal when I call them so I had no worries about going out there with
the children to play ball.  When they weren’t supervised they stayed behind the fence we had put up on the patio.

We had seen that you were allowed to take your dogs into Legoland (just not on the rides ha ha) but we decided it was
better for them to stay at home, and I am really glad we did this because it would have been a terrible shame to expose
them into the hustle, bustle and the large crowds at Legoland.
They were perfectly happy to be left alone for a couple of hours while we did other things.

The children love the dogs to bits, and vice versa.  We discovered a rather silly new trick whilst we were on holiday, and the children thought it was hilarious.
They lay flat on their backs on the floor, the dogs were told to "sit" and "wait", while I put the dogtreats in-between the kiddies toes.  Then on the command "now"
Bianca took the treats from Emma's toes and Dovita took them from Frederik's.  They took them very gently tails wagging madly, even though the kiddies were
giggling like mad.  Sounds crazy I know, but we had great fun and we had to repeat this every evening.
Sorry no pictures of this, just use your imagination :-)
